Commercial Building

Commercially used property (defined locally as including multi-family development in addition to all non-residential development) is much more stringently regulated in Lago Vista, consistent with the requirements of other municipalities in Texas and the balance of the country.  In addition to the requirements that can be determined by consulting our local ordinances and the other materials referenced within them, it is also important to know what types of development or buildings for which the State of Texas requires the use of a registered professional architect or what is know as an "excepted engineer" (one that has demonstrated sufficient competence in building design).  In order to assist in that understanding at the earliest possible stage, we have provided a link to a flowchart and associated notes prepared by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
